Rachel Lapierre, a lottery winner set up Le Book Humanitaire in order to finally realize her dream which is simply to make others life easier.
It happened to everyone to think about to do in case of winning the lottery and obvisouly most of the time the answers are around expensive material things such as a very expensive car, villa, travelling etc.
But there should be very few people who would straightforward think about other people with no hesitation. It what the former Miss Quebec did in 2013. The former model who also work as a nurse has always had Mother Theresa as an example to follow. Indeed, she admired the concept of a life dedication to charity.
One day, she played to a local lottery without even thinking she could possibly win but she won a lifetime salary of C$1,000 (£605) a week in the Quebecois lottery "Gagnant à vie", or "winner for life".
She couldn't believe it but remained quiet and keep being loyal to her dream: "I wanted to do something I loved for the rest of my life. I wanted to help others," she says.
Few months late she started her new charity program, Le Book Humanitaire.
Le Book Humanitaire is located in Saint-Jerome, not far from Montreal. As one can notice Le book humanitaire's logo looks like the Facebook one and it is because it uses social network to connect people willing to help and people who need help.
On its Facebook page, which has 22,000 followers, those who are struggling can let the community know about their plight.
Le Book Humanitaire donates food to people who can't afford it among other things. She explained that she invested $70,000 to date.
"This weekly C$1,000 I get from the lottery allows me to not go to work anymore and finance my organisation," she says.
She is now able to devote herself to her non-profit organization because she knows that every month she receives a fixed amount to live with.
What a beautiful story of someone who devoted herself to people in need thanks to the lottery prize she won!
